RE: Getting My Squat Back on Track, Post Injury Style!

No longer a second attempt...

Bench: worked up to 355X5X3 - PR (this was my second max attempt at the meet in May!)
Chins: 5 sets - completed one more rep in total than last time.

While it is exciting that the bench is moving up pretty well, it also leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I worked really hard last year to get my squat well ahead of my bench. Now, my bench is inching up closer and closer to my squat PR's each week and I can't squat. I think about that too much I guess. Gotta be patient.

On another note, I got an application in the mail to do another WNPF meet on Sep 26th, same location. I'd have to do bench only again at that point, but hmmmm I wonder if I can move up that top 25 list of benchers in my class!! Sep 26 about a month and a half away, wonder if I could hit the magic 405 bench by then...maybe its something to work toward.  I'll know by the end of the month if I'm entering the meet!

Dwayne - I know you are still bummed about the knee, nut hang in there - sounds like things are getting better. And, right back at you with the PR - W-O-W!

It gets to me when I start to think about it too much but tonight's workout helped me to change focus some.
----------------------------------
Keep rolling...

Goodmornings: worked up to 230X5X3 - PR
RDLs: worked up to 330X8X3 - PR

Decided to not go with the lower weight high rep plan for after 225. On good mornings, I figure I'll keep going up until it gets too challenging to maintain good form and then I'll go to the lower weight with higher reps. It just felt premature to drop it down and go for reps. I feel I have at least a good 20 more lbs with this before my form will start to get shakey...but even that could change as I get stronger.

At this point, I'm kind of feeling on a roll with these two movements that my state of mind has changed. I'm in no rush to get back to squats and deadlifts because I'm really interested in what I'll be able to do with these two movements over the next couple months and also, I'm curious to see how the strength from these two movements will carry over to squatting and deadlifting once I do start doing them again.

Hey Dwayne!
Is this in Bordentown?  Let me know if you are going to do it.  I've never been to a powerlifting meet, and might check it out!!

Press and Chin PR's today
Press: worked up to 221.25X5X3 - PR
Chins: max set of 16 - PR

Did not feel like I was passing out this time on presses. Did feel wobbly on some reps but the strength is definitely all there. A few reps, I had to pause in the middle of the set, re-group, and then press it up..which is a lot harder than touch and go continuously....but even though it happened multiple times throughout the workout, the weight still moved up. Hopefully, I can keep up the small jumps all the way up to 225X5X3.
Pushed myself to make the extra rep on chins but I got it. 4 more reps till 20 and then I start adding weight....woohoo!!

If I even tried to attempt this weight right now, I would do a header into the nearest wall! LOL! Great job Dwayne - see you Saturday!

Another day on the routine...

Bench: worked up to 357.5X5X3 - PR
Chins: 5 sets...1 more rep in total than last time.

Felt good. Everything held up pretty well. I'm really surprised at my increase in the amount of chins I can do...considering I'm not getting lighter and I just started chinning only about a month or so ago after over a year hiatus from the exercise. No complaints...just happy with the progress.
