Trunks

OK – looking to get a new set of trunks and curious what other people like and what they think looks good.  Got French cut last year from bbing.com and they were fine, but thinking of changing to something else.  I felt that they seemed to “cut” straight across and made me look wider (NO it’s not me – it’s my trunks that make me look fat – HA)   Thinking of maybe flex cut or something else to help give the impression of a smaller waist and a bit more of a V.  Hoping to come in pretty (VERY) conditioned.  Curious of other people’s thoughts.

The leaner you are, the less coverage. I feel that a big (one with more coverage) suit when you are lean can take away from the illusion of size and can also take away from the "lines" (or symmetry). It really feels gross to type that but its true.

Cut-wise, you should just order a couple and try out different types. You won't know until you see it. Give yourself options. Also try different colors, that's something I always wanted to do but always waited till the end to worry about these details. Its good that you are planning ahead.

I got mying through bodybuilding.com last year - they only have the French cut. But I think they are actually supplied by http://www.cherrybombs.net/catalog/index.php

I am going to try them out directly this time around. Go by the size charts that they have - I would assume small. You DON'T want DROOPY BUTT with your trunks - doesn't look very good at all.

Lady in maryland was recommended to me last year. she took my measurments over the phone and sent some to me. i used to rock the ones from bbing.com but never again. custom made all the way. i will hunt down her phone number unless someone else know who i am talking about and posts first. she is in the baltimore area. trunks were less material in glute area and thinner strap from front to back. fit like a glove, very comfortable and the material was top notch.

Dwayne - HA.  Some of the quesitons I've asked and answers I've written - I've felt the same way - but hey - it is what it is.  HA.

Hey David: Great question. I picked up a couple of pairs of the flex cut and I like the fit. I think it's all a matter of taste. Also I have noticed that you also have to factor in your tanned color in choosing your trunks. . . I think the darker the tan, the more you want a brighter color. I had a realllllly dark tan in my Florida show last year--and the tanning expert recommended a bright color for me--unfortunately all my trunks were black, grey, and navy. WooHooo. Hey, the trunks cost about $20. buy a few and see what colors and styles you like. Cherry Bombs has the widest selection around. They are also lined. Yeah, droppy trunks look sloppy. Go for size SM.

Thanks - this is truely a conversation I never thought I would have - HA. But thanks for the advise appreciate it. Think I am going to stick to darker colors though for the single reason that I am a mess - I will get tanning crap all over the suit and that looks bad. I do agree that the contrast is a good idea - I'll just end up looking like a mess though - HA. But thanks. Glad you like Cherry Bombs - think that is who I will try out this time around.

Dave -

I used Andreas Cahling posers - I think Joe has used them before also - I really like the cut of them especially if you are lean - Dwayne is right about the leaner you are, the smaller the cut. Don't want to hide anything!

Good luck!

Mike

I'm a big fan of the wider, classic cut like Arnold used to wear. I prefer it in black because it goes with the prejudging and night show. I had a cranberry color, but threw them out because they rode my ass. They were the skimpier cut on the waist.

I prefer Cherry Bombs gear. The texture was kind of shiny, but not overly shiny.
