CONTEST TANNING PRODUCTS

Joe, et al.

I know you are going to be going over contest tanning prep ect at your next class. However I was putting together an order of a buch of things and wanted to get tanning stuff as well.

I was going to get JAN TANA COMPETITION TAN http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/jt/comptan.html

1 - Is ther ANYTHING ELSE that I should get instead or in conjunction with this?
2- Is one bottle enough?

Basically - what do i need to get for contest prep from a tanning perspective.
I would like to get it a bit earlier so i can try it out.

Glad you brought this up.

Yes, go with Jan Tana, but you want to get the kit from her site. Maybe BB.com carries it now. But you what the Competition Color and now called Hi Definition., product.

Here is the link, http://www.jantana.com/competition.html
and here is the product.
Jan Tana
Hi-Definition Color Collection II
For Bodybuilding Men & Women

And it seems that she has a newer product out called, Ultra 1?

After looking at it, its now called, Hi Definition Color.
The Competition Tan, is the top coat. And not needed.

OK - so this is what I need to get

Jan Tana
Ultra 1 Color Collection II
For Bodybuilding Men & Women

Get the 2 color set?

Does this wash off or does it stay? I would prefer something that washes off - don't want to go into work on Monday looking like an oddball.

The one you listed must be new, and I am not familiar with it.

The one I have used and suggested to others is this

Jan Tana
Hi-Definition Color Collection II
For Bodybuilding Men & Women

I am sure the Ultra is good but like I said, never used it.
Try emailing her, and ask what the difference is?

Sorry - My bad (copied the wrong thing)

Yes the

Hi Def Color Collection II

Its a 4 step kit.

As you have used it before - does it leave you still fairly dark afterwards or not so much?

Is the 2 color ok - it comes in a 2, 3 and 4 color kit?

Get the professional airbrush tan. I did the self coat once and it was aweful (see my pics from the NPCDelState/Open, 2008) and the professional and the $100. investment was worth it. The airbrush was even and the color really great. They did touch ups, etc., glaze, etc. for both pre-judging and the evening program. Self application with a sponge (or whatever) is a major mess, imho.

Thanks Rick - I'll take that under HEAVY advisement. The kit I'm looking at is $85 - then shipping. And if it is only $100 or so for someone else to do it - that to me is money well spent.

Thanks!!

Believe me, it is money well spent. Another issue is applying the tan to your face. That's a whole other thing-- I didn't find it easy at all. The air brush tan was GREAT. Not sure it's always offered.

I liked the Jan Tana line; only thing I didnt like was that it went on everything. ProTan stuck like glue, but it got really tacky. Couple that with the fact that you cant shower and you have the makings of a really gross peak week. Still, the JT stuff was easier to put on and less sloppy.

Hahaha. Sounds familiar. . . you leave a trail wherever you go or sit. Worse yet is the Dream Tan product---it doesn't dry and doesn't take a glaze--super messy.

I would never go into a show without any color and rely on the spray tanner without knowing them. My last show, I did the Jan Tana kit, then got sprayed for the hell of it. Who know's if they know what they are doing, and would not put it in there hands without seeing their work.

Good point Joe. The service you had at your last show was very professional and really did an awesome job. Whatever you do, the coats have to dry before the next application.

i have always used pro tan with1 coatstarting thursday night after final shave and exfoliation (most important step), 3 coats on friday and final coat on saturday morning. quick rinse after each coat of pro tan.

then morning of show i dream tan and let it dry with blow dryer. repeat hour before going on stage. i use a spray sunscreen (leaves a bronzing type glaze, not glare like oil) judges have not said a thing to me about my color even when i asked about it.

i will say that depending on the lights either the #1 (looks better under less light) or #2(looks better under brighter lights) dream tan...at least on my skin :)
